entry 010 - this october, we take off the ground running

I was on TikTok (like every good story starts) and I saw a video from a content creator (can’t remember her name—oops) talking about the Winter Arc Challenge. I was immediately intrigued because I had just been looking at the goals I set in January and realized that while I was making progress, I wasn't going to achieve many of them. I didn’t want to feel that way at the end of the year again, so instead of waiting until January 2025 to try again, I decided I wanted to do more in these next three months.

So, what is the winter arc challenge?

It’s about spending the last three months of the year refocusing on your personal goals, aiming to finish the year strong.

It's like getting a second chance to tackle your New Year's resolutions.

This means that, even if you’ve wasted the last nine months, you still have three months left to make a difference and make things happen.

In my mind I think of time and a house. Time passes, but a house needs builders to move. Time will come and go, but the land lays empty, waiting for a house to be built. Imagine two builders given four years and a piece of land. One builder thought it was too late to start, or waited for a better time, so they never began. Meanwhile, the other builder let time guide him, and brick by brick, he built his house. After four years, the effort showed. Both builders had the same amount of time, but only one had a house. Some things happen to us, but some things we have to make happen.

So, in these next three months, commit to making things happen for yourself. I know I will. We all need a house to live in, and if you put in the effort every single day—even if it’s just laying one brick at a time—the house will get built. It might take longer, but it will happen. Time will pass you by whether you build the house or not.

Now that we have motivation, let's make a plan.

Thinking about doing something means almost nothing if you don’t actually get it done. This is where you decide what’s best for you, and I’ll share what my plan is.

I have a lot of little things I need to get done, so I’m doing 50 projects in 50 days (or however many days are left in the year). I think this is the best plan for me because it allows me to work on my dreams every day and tackle all the little things I’ve been putting off.

Every day, I’ll commit time to a project and document it here so I can have some accountability partners.

I think we should make a Facebook group to check in on our progress and share tips. Let’s do this! Share this challenge with a friend you want to see succeed.

Think of the best way you can take on the challenge for the rest of the year, and let’s make it happen!
